About Infiniti

Infiniti is a division of a Japanese automaker that started selling vehicles in North America in 1989. It has authentic dealers across the world, in as many as 50 countries. Recently in 2018, Hiroto Saikawa, the chief executive of the company announced that they will turn into an electric band, with all its vehicles either being electric or hybrid by 2021. This is a major announcement, following the resurgence of the automotive industry with the notion of concept cars and future automobiles.

In the year 2012, the headquarter was moved from Yokohama to Hong Kong, under the name Infiniti Global Limited, with primary focus on luxury car market.  Rolan Kruger, the former head of BMW Asian division was appointed as president in 2014. Following the production of QX60 crossover, the company began producing vehicles outside Japan, including China and England.

The Evolution of Infiniti

  • In 1996: Infiniti introduced the I 30, which was rebranded to Nissan Maxima, leading to a boost in overall sales.
  • In 1997: The first ever foreign luxury SUV was introduced based on the Nissan Pathfinder. Today, it is known as Infiniti QX4, which was released a year after Acura.
  • In 2003: The necessary boost in sales was provided by Nissan, with the brand new redesigned Infiniti G35 sedan and coupe. With the introduction of G 35, more young buyers were interested in purchasing the vehicle, as compared to the previously unappealing Infiniti brand. It was definitely the car of the year for 2003. The company also produced the predecessor to Q45, including the M45 and M35 sedans.
  • In 2008: Infiniti introduced 3 top models to the European market, with a vision to offer vehicles in as many as 21 European countries.
  • In 2010: Infiniti revealed its plans to expand performance lineup, namely the Infiniti Performance Line, under the acronym IPL.
  • In 2012: The company released a couple of concept cars that focused on electric powertrain technology. Vehicles such as Infiniti Emerg-E offered a gasoline engine that functions like an electric generator, when the charge is down. This is really useful in giving the vehicle that extended range. The company also launched the Infiniti LE concept based on the powertrain technology of the Nissan Leaf.
