About Chevy

Chevy, or Chevrolet, is a major brand of automobiles which is sold under General Motors. It was established in 1911 as a direct competitor to Ford, which at the time was the world’s most powerful automobile manufacturer. However, by 1929 Chevy had caught up and emerged as America’s best-selling vehicle brand. This success is attributed both to the dependability of Chevy automobiles along with their affordable price tag.

About Chevy Monte Carlo

The Monte Carlo 2 door coupe was produced between 1970 and 2007, and covers six generations so far. It is considered a personalized luxury car, with the latest generation being full sized. However, the first 4 generations were primarily equipped with a V8 engine and rear wheel drive, although the 1978 edition used a V6 instead. Their assembly incorporated the body on frame technique, and the unibody assembly techniques that became so prominent during the 1980s was not used because Chevrolet had decided to downsize their marquees to satisfy demand for greater fuel economy and to respond to the then oil crisis and subsequent recession.  By 1988 the rear drive Carlo was discontinued, but would be revived during 1994 as a front drive, fifth generation coupe that was outfitted with a V6 engine. The sixth generation was introduced in 1999, and was dubbed the Monte Carlo SS and was equipped with a V6, 3.8 L engine that was supercharged.

Common Chevy Monte Carlo A/C Problems

One owner stated that although their air conditioning worked, the switch controlling it didn’t. While driving the car whenever they moved over a bump the A/C or heat would activate automatically, and would sometimes shut down if it was already operating. They replaced the Monte Carlo’s wiring harness and blower resister in an attempt to resolve the issue, but to no avail. Mechanics who investigated the issue believe that it was actually the car’s control head. Furthermore, the car would only blow out air on the side of the driver. It was eventually concluded that the door actuator had malfunctioned and needed to be replaced.
