About Ford

In 2018, it was announced that Jim Hackett would replace Ford CEO Mark Fields. Hackett oversaw the creation of the Ford Smart Mobility, the specialized unit which was tasked for experimentation involving self-driving, car sharing, and various other ventures which were designed to assist the company in competing with other vehicular tech firms such as Uber. Additionally, Ford revealed in the same year that it had plans to discontinue its passenger vehicles in North America with the exception of the Ford Mustang, and would focus on crossover vehicles.

About Ford Flex

The Flex is a crossover sport utility vehicle which is full sized that was first introduced by Ford in 2005 as a concept, but wouldn’t be available for purchase until 2009. It is considered the successor for Ford Taurus X as well as the Freestar minivan. The Flex is larger than the Explorer but smaller than the Expedition. The engineers switched its body configurations, giving it a five door wagon based cabin which was preferable to consumers.

The Flex is derived from the D4 Ford chassis architecture, and uses a very flexible wheelbase. Its D4 chassis has been applied to both the Ford Explorer (2011 through 2019) and Lincoln MKT. For most of its production history, the Flex was assembled at the Oakville Assembly Plant in Ontario, Canada. The vehicle was marketed in the USA, Middle East and Canada. In 2013 the vehicle received a facelift, which was showcased at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Though the doors and roofline were retained, its rear and front was revised, with a new grille and tailgate.

Common Ford Flex A/C Problems

Some owners have stated that the air conditioning in the Ford Flex is inconsistent. One driver took his vehicle to a mechanic who repaired two sensors which were faulty, but the A/C still wouldn’t work properly. Further investigation discovered that the accumulator had an issue which required it to be replaced. Other issues which have been reported include a leaking compressor as well as faulty external temperature sensor. While some of these problems can be resolved by a simple recharge, others require entire components to be replaced.
