About GMC
In 1996, GMC made the decision to merge their brand with Pontiac, which included the dealerships. This resulted in one dealer that could provide trucks as well as entry level cars, an approach which was similar to Chevrolet. Additionally, while GMC had manufactured buses for decades, they made the decision to end production back in 1987, at which point they decided to alter the company’s name. Many of their buses had been manufactured in Ontario, Canada but GM made the decision to move away from this market due to fierce competition which emerged starting in the 1970s, focusing on SUVs instead.

Common GMC Yukon XL 2500 A/C Problems
Multiple owners have reported ongoing issues with their GMC Yukon. For instance, in one case the air conditioning in the back area suddenly stopped working while also producing a popping sound within the steering. Mechanics were able to resolve the rear area A/C issues for a time but the problem reemerged a year later. Despite taking the vehicle to auto shops multiple times they haven’t been able to permanently fix the problem. It appears likely that this issue is the result of a manufacturing defect, as other Yukon owners have reports similar incidents.
