About Mitsubishi Eclipse
The Eclipse is a compact sport car that was manufactured by Mitsubishi from 1989 until 2011. It is available in four generations, and in 1996 a convertible variant was released. Generations one and two use an automobile platform which is taken from the Plymouth Laser and Eagle Talon. They were constructed during Mitsubishi’s cooperation with Chrysler, and the third generation used a platform which was shared with the Dodge Stratus and Chrysler Sebring.
Mitsubishi has stated that the Eclipse is named in honor of an English racehorse that lived in the 18th century, which was undefeated and captured twenty six victories. It has been sold to the Japanese domestic market, as well as in North America, South Korea, China, Brazil, the Philippines and the Middle East. The car has developed a cult following over the last three decades and as a result Mitsubishi announced in 2017 that it intends to bring back the Eclipse brand, but this time in a crossover vehicle which it has given the name Eclipse Cross, which was first showcased at the Auto Show in Geneva.
Common Mitsubishi Eclipse A/C Problems
One owner discovered that air conditioning fluid is leaking onto the driver’s area above its gas pedal. The leak appears at the location in which the air conditioning attaches to a fire wall. It is a square connection and the leakage occurs whenever the owner turns on the A/C. Other drivers have complained of an A/C refrigerant pipe that needed replacement. It sits above a radiator bracket and then moves into the bracket which causes vibrations within the car. This resulted in the air gradually becoming warmer until the A/C unit finally stopped working completely.
