About Nissan
Nissan has developed and experimented with a number of proprietary technologies. For instance, they begin experimenting with assembly robots in 1982 at their Murayama plant, and the plant at Zama became robotized by 1984. Although electric vehicles have now become main stream, Nissan was far ahead of its time, experimenting with and producing these vehicles as early as 1946. By 2010 Nissan introduced the Leaf, an electric vehicle with a plugin style battery that became the world’s best-selling electric for almost a decade, and this success led to the development of the Nissan Hypermini and Altra.
About Nissan Maxima
The Maxima is a full-sized car which is produced by Nissan and available for sale in China, the Middle East and North America. It was first showcased in 1981 as a 1982 model and at the time was called Datsun Maxima, the successor of the Datsun 810. The Maxima is derived from the Bluebird and by 1984 Nissan executives made the decision to phase out the Datsun marque in favor of Nissan.
Originally, the majority of Maxima’s were manufactured in Japan at Oppama, but production would eventually shift to Tennessee at the Smyrna plant in the early 2000s. The Maxima is now considered Nissan’s premier sedan in North America, more powerful, spacious and luxurious than the Sentra and Altima, but not as opulent or costly as Nissan’s Infiniti brand.
